South Korea's exports jumped 20-point-two percent last month from a year earlier, posting the largest growth in five years.
According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Wednesday, the country’s outbound shipments came to 43-point-two billion U.S. dollars in February, up 20-point-two percent year-on-year.
It is the first time since September 2011 that the nation’s exports, which grew eleven-point-two percent in January, posted a double-digit growth for two months in a row.
It is also the first time since December 2011 that the exports posted growth for four months in a row, showing signs that the exports are on a recovery track.
Imports increased 23-point-three percent on-year to 36 billion U.S. dollars in February.
The trade surplus amounted to seven-point-two billion dollars last month, extending a surplus rally to 61 straight months.
