Samsung Group has announced a set of reform plans, including the dismantlement of its key Future Strategy Office, which has been responsible for major decisions concerning the group.
Samsung Group Vice Chairman Choi Gee-sung and President Chang Choong-ki, who led the office, both resigned.
Samsung, South Korea’s largest business group, on Tuesday said that under the reform plans, Samsung affiliates will now independently make their own business decisions, which effectively disbands the structure of the "group".
Samsung will also abolish its group-wide recruitment system for hiring new workers, with this year’s first-half recruitment being Samsung’s last group-wide employment. It also abolished weekly meetings of CEOs of Samsung affiliates.
Samsung Electronics, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung C&T, which are three leading Samsung affiliates, are expected to play a role of coordinating major issues among Samsung affiliates.
