Craft beer will soon be available in large discount stores and convenience stores across South Korea.
During an investment promotion meeting on Monday, Acting President Hwang Kyo-ahn and related minsters approved the retail beer sales measure in an effort to stimulate the beer market.
While lifting sales regulations for craft beer, the government also decided to ease purity rules to allow brewing with chestnut, sweet potato, buckwheat and other ingredients.
In an effort to boost the sluggish economy, the government also decided to make eight cities and counties located along the nation’s southern coast into global tourist destinations.
Under the plan, the government will develop the 483-kilometer southern coastal strip connecting Geoje and Goheung into a “national coastal tourism road” and set up observatories and parks.
The government explained that the latest steps are aimed at tackling the nation’s economic slowdown.
