Exports Jump 12.8% in Jan., Steepest in 4 Years

South Korea's commodity exports and imports both grew for the third straight month in January.

Exports posted double-digit growth last month led by a rise in global oil prices.

According to Bank of Korea data on January trade figures and terms of trade released Friday, the tentative export price index rose 12-point-eight percent year-on-year to 107-point-61 last month.

It's the steepest on-year growth in four years and the third straight month of growth.

By export item, the index for coal and petroleum products surged the most by 67 percent while those for precision machinery, chemical goods and agro-fishery produce also posted high growth of between 18 and 24 percent.
