FKI Chief Pledges to Sever Politics-Business Ties

Beginning his fourth term at the helm of South Korea's largest business lobby, the Federation of Korean Industries(FKI) Chairman Huh Chang-soo has called for severing the corruptive ties between politicians and businesses.

The GS Group chairman made the pledge during the general meeting of the FKI on Friday, where he was recommended by board members to serve another term.

During the general meeting, Huh said he will sternly deal with unfair external pressure on the FKI and try to regain the public trust about the country’s conglomerates.

Huh said the FKI will put in place a system aimed at preventing the recurrence of a corruptive scandal stemming from politics-business ties.

The association of key South Korean conglomerates have been criticized for its involvement in Choi Soon-sil's fundraising for the creation of the Mir and K-Sports foundations.
