S. Korea's Fishery Output Down 2.6%

South Korea’s fishery output decreased last year due to illegal operations by Chinese fishing boats in Korean waters.

According to Statistics Korea on Wednesday, the country’s fishery production reached three-point-25 million tons, down two-point-six percent year-on-year.

However, fishery output by value increased two-point-three percent on-year to seven-point-four trillion won.

The country’s offshore fishery output decreased by quantity but the output by value edged up one tenth of a percent thanks to rises in sales prices.

Meanwhile, deep-sea fishery output by value shrank by five percent with the decrease of the output by quantity.
