S. Korea's Net External Credit Surpasses $400Bln

South Korea’s net external credit, which is external credit minus foreign debt, has surpassed 400 billion U.S. dollars for the first time.

Tentative data released by the Bank of Korea on Wednesday showed the country’s outstanding foreign credit stood at 784-point-three billion dollars at the end of last year, up 63-point-eight billion dollars from 2015, while its external liability fell 15-point-one billion dollars to 380-point-nine billion dollars.

Accordingly, the country held 403-point-four billion U.S. dollars more in overseas assets than liabilities at the end of 2016, up 78-point-nine billion dollars from a year earlier.
