Following the arrest of Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Samsung Group said it will fight for the truth through court trials.
 
In a brief text message sent to reporters on Friday, the group said it will “do its best for the truth to be revealed in court.”
 
The detention of the 48-year-old heir is sending shockwaves through the country's largest conglomerate, as it came at a time when Lee was spearheading a group-wide effort to rework corporate governance in the absence of Samsung Electronics chairman and his father Lee Kun-hee.
 
Choi Ji-sung and Jang Choong-ki, the two executives heading the group’s control tower, Future Strategy Office, are also expected to be indicted over the group’s alleged bribery, leaving Samsung with few options other than focusing on defending the executives in upcoming legal battles.
 
It is likely that the group will soon declare an emergency management system under which each affiliate will be controlled under separate emergency management plans drafted by its CEOs.
 
For the time being, the group will also likely suspend large-sized investments or organization restructuring and the group’s reform plans, such as the dismantling of the Future Strategy Office, will also likely be delayed.
