Gov't to Improve Distribution to Stabilize Prices of Farm, Livestock Products

The government aims to improve the distribution structure and increase direct dealings between producers and consumers as part of efforts to stabilize prices of agricultural and livestock products.

Vice Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok visited a farmers market in Sejong City on Wednesday and discussed ways to improve distribution of farm and livestock products with market officials, farmers and consumers.

Choi said the government will do its best to help stabilize prices by releasing more state reserves and increasing discount sales at Nonghyup.

There are also plans to set up 22 additional stores where consumers directly buy from producers and expand direct dealings to three-point-three trillion won this year from two-point-seven trillion won last year.

In addition, the government will have a public home shopping channel actively sell high-quality local food products.
