The Foreign Ministry will provide help to South Korean companies operating in North America, as the economic environment in the region is expected to see changes due to the Trump administration’s plan to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA).
The South Korean embassy in the U.S. said Sunday that the ministry decided to run “help desks” at the nation’s embassies in the U.S., Canada and Mexico as a way to support South Korean businesses there. The decision was made at a meeting among deputy chiefs of 17 South Korean diplomatic missions in North America last Friday.
The help desk will provide updates on developments in NAFTA renegotiations to South Korean companies investing or conducting businesses in the three countries.
The ministry will also operate a hotline to offer consultations regarding business issues in North America, such as customs clearance, taxation and visa issuance procedures.
