S. Korea Plans to Provide Rice to Developing Countries

The South Korean government is pushing for a plan to provide rice to developing countries in a bid to resolve the supply glut in the market.

This is based on a mid to long term plan announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs aimed at stabilizing the supply and demand of rice.

Under the plan, the government will sign up as a member of the FAC, or Food Assistance Convention, and starting providing rice from next year.

In addition, it will provide around one-thousand tons of rice to the APTERR, which refers to the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve.
