Gov't to Take Measures Following Aircraft Failures

South Korea plans what it calls a targeted aircraft inspection following several maintenance-related incidents this week.

Asiana Airlines and budget flier Jin Air both reported delays and turns to terminal on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport says it plans to examine whether the airlines complied with maintenance regulations, including whether they have a maintenance system in place to deal with the engine and auxiliary power units.

The inspection process is expected to yield improvement goals and measures to swiftly respond to maintenance issues such as fire.
