Trade Minister Joo Hyung-hwan says the government will be prepared in the event the U.S. requests a renegotiation of the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement(KORUS FTA).
 
Joo told reporters at a meeting in Seoul on Tuesday that the government is preparing for any possibility that may arise regarding the pact.
 
While noting that the Trump administration has prioritized tackling the North American Free Trade Agreement(NAFTA) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Joo said the new U.S. president also pledged to fully review bilateral free trade pacts which would include the KORUS FTA.
 
He also said that the governments of South Korea and Mexico have agreed to share information on related developments as South Korean companies in Mexico could be hit hard by changes in NAFTA.
