Consumer Sentiment Shows No Signs of Improving

A new survey finds that South Korea's consumer sentiment continues to be in the doldrums.

According to the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Tuesday, the nation’s composite consumer sentiment index(CCSI) for January stood at 93-point-three, down eight-tenths of a percentage point from last month.

The figure was calculated after the BOK surveyed 22-hundred households across the nation between January tenth and the 17th. A total of two-thousand-39 households responded to the bank’s survey.

The latest CCSI was the lowest to be recorded since March 2009, which was shortly after the global financial crisis. It also marked the third month for the index to post a drop.

The CCSI is produced by studying six key indices that gauge consumer confidence. A reading above 100 means optimists outnumber pessimists on economic conditions.
