S. Korea to Produce Measures to Attract Overseas Talent

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho says that the government will pursue an immigration policy that will attract overseas talent.

Appearing on a KBS program on Sunday, the minister said that the Office for Government Policy Coordination (OPC) plans to produce mid- and long-term immigration policies in the first half of the year, but it will first rush to create and implement measures and incentives to attract overseas talent.

The government has set up a task force headed by the OPC minister to counter the country’s demographic changes.

Yoo said that United States President Donald Trump’s economic policies such as protectionism are the biggest threat to the South Korean economy this year.

He added that the government will be able to achieve its growth target of two-point-six percent this year.
