Samsung Heavy Wins $230Mln Order to Build FSRU Vessel

Samsung Heavy Industries has won a 230-million U.S. dollar deal to build a floating storage and regasification unit(FSRU).

The South Korean shipbuilder announced on Wednesday that under the deal with Norway-based Hoegh LNG Holdings, it will build a liquefied natural gas FSRU vessel by May 2019.

The vessel gasifies LNG at sea and can store 70-thousand tons of LNG, which is equal to the daily consumption of South Korea.

The deal is the second order that Samsung has won this year, following a deal it clinched early this month to build a floating production unit for British oil multinational BP.
