S. Korea Revives Ministerial Meeting on Inflation amid Price Hike Concern

A ministerial meeting to check on inflation has been revived for the first time in four years.

According to relevant ministries on Monday, Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho plans to preside over the meeting on Thursday, which will be the first of its kind since February 2013.

The government plans to hold such a ministerial meeting whenever it is deemed necessary to keep in check a sudden growth in prices. The existing vice ministerial meeting on prices will also be maintained.

Concerns have been raised about a rapid growth in prices following the heat wave last summer, coupled with a recent massive outbreak of avian influenza.
