As the independent counsel requested an arrest warrant for Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, the conglomerate group denied his allegations in a statement. 

Samsung Group on Monday said that it never expected anything in return when it provided financial support for projects related to Choi Soon-sil and her family.

The conglomerate said that it is hard to accept the independent counsel's argument that the money was given for the government's support for a merger between two Samsung affiliates in 2015.
