The nation’s exports kicked off 2017 on a positive note, marking a rise so far this year.
According to the Korea Customs Service on Wednesday, the nation exported goods worth eleven-point-six billion U.S. dollars during the first ten days of this year. The amount is up 37-point-seven percent from the same period in 2016.
It is also a continuation of a two-month upward trend since November last year. Exports grew two-point-five percent in November and six-point-four percent in December after consecutively falling two months before.
During the first ten days of 2017, there was a surge in shipments of petroleum goods, semiconductors and steel products while those of wireless communication devices and ships dropped.
By region, exports to key trading partners such as Vietnam, China, the EU, Japan and the U.S., all jumped.
But shipments to Latin America decreased by 13-point-six percent.
