Global prices of dynamic random access memory(DRAM) products are skyrocketing.
According to industry sources, the contract prices of 4GB PC DRAM DDR3 modules, a measure of the global DRAM price, recently surpassed 25 dollars on average.
It is a 39 percent hike in two months compared with an average price of 18 dollars in November.
Data tracker DRAMeXchange predicted the 4GB PC DRAM DDR3 modules contract prices will rise 30 percent or more in the first quarter of this year, noting it will be a record high price growth during a “slow-season.”
A source in the local semiconductor industry also said that the 4GB DRAM DDR3 modules prices are predicted to rise up to around 30 percent in the first quarter.
South Korean chipmakers Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix account for more than a combined 70 percent of the global DRAM market.
