FSC Chief Vows Airtight Risk Management in 2017

Financial Services Commission(FSC) Chairman Yim Jong-yong has vowed to steadily pursue airtight risk management and capital market reform this year.

Yim made the pledge on Monday during a ceremony marking the opening of the securities and derivatives markets in Seoul.

He described the conditions surrounding South Korea’s economy this year as resembling “a hard snowy winter,” citing uncertainties at home and abroad including the U.S.’s interest rate hike and the launch of a new U.S. administration.

In a bid to block stringency in procuring finance for firms, Yim said the FSC will pursue programs on supporting the purchase of corporate bonds and create a massive fund on stabilizing bond markets in the event of emergency.
