BOK to Continue Loose Monetary Policy Next Year

The Bank of Korea(BOK) has decided to continue pursuing an expansive monetary policy next year.

The central bank unveiled the decision on Thursday as it forecast that the nation’s economy will see steady growth and no significant inflationary pressures next year.

The bank also said that it will manage the nation’s key interest rate in the direction toward an economic growth recovery, citing that uncertainties both at home and abroad remain high.

As such uncertain conditions, the bank noted the U.S.’ interest rate hike, expanded protectionism, a possible slowdown in China’s economy and the domestic political situation.

The bank said that it will keep a close eye on increased market volatility and a cumulative rise in household debts that could result from the U.S. interest rate hike.
