S. Korean Military Installs 20 Additional Loudspeakers Along Border

The South Korean military has installed 20 additional loudspeakers along the inter-Korean border.

A military official said on Monday that the installation of some 20 new stationary loudspeaker broadcast facilities was completed last week.

This comes about four months after military prosecutors investigated allegations of corruption surrounding a military procurement project to purchase 40 additional loudspeakers. The official said there is no problem with the quality of the loudspeakers.

The military resumed anti-North Korean loudspeaker broadcasts in January in response to Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test.

In order to place more loudspeakers along the border, the military issued a public notice for bids for the one-point-eight billion won procurement project in April.
