Foreign Stock Holdings in S. Korea Again Post New High

Foreign stock holdings in South Korea again posted a new high, thanks to continued net buying by foreign investors despite the latest U.S. interest rate hike.

The Korea Exchange said Thursday that foreign investors held roughly 465-point-two trillion won worth of shares on the main bourse. That’s up around 12-point-six trillion won compared to the previous high posted on September 30th.

Foreign investors net bought roughly eleven-point-two trillion won worth of stocks on the local bourse this year, showing the strongest interest in buying among all investors.

This month alone, foreign investors net bought stocks worth 900 billion won.

Market observers said that eased concerns over emerging economies following the U.S.' interest rate hike led to the continued net buying.
