Friday Marks Coldest Day of This Season

Freezing temperatures gripped the nation, making Friday the coldest day yet this winter.
 
Morning lows plunged to nearly minus 22 degrees Celsius in Daegwallyeong, around minus 19 degrees in Cheorwon, minus 13-point-four degrees in Paju, minus eleven in Chungju and minus three degrees in Gwangju and Busan. 

Seoul saw its lows nosedive to minus nine-point-eight degrees, while a cold wave advisory was issued for the third day in the northern part of Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province.
 
Afternoon highs will remain two to three degrees lower than usual at this time of year. Seoul and Chuncheon’s afternoon highs will peak at one degree, Daejeon three, Daegu four and Gwangju five degrees.
 
The frigid conditions are expected to ease up from Saturday. Morning lows for Seoul are projected to stand at minus one degree on Saturday and two degrees on Sunday. Daytime highs will be eight degrees on Saturday and nine on Sunday.
 
The weather agency said the freezing conditions are not in the forecast for next week.
