Marine Corps Check Combat Readiness of Frontline Units

South Korean Marine Corps leaders have made a surprise visit to Yeonpyeong Island to ensure the readiness of units stationed there.

Yeonpyeong is close to South Korea's UN-imposed maritime border with North Korea, and was shelled by North Korean artillery units in 2010.

Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps Jun Jin-goo called upon units to maintain a constant readiness to respond immediately to any provocation.

Jun and his team also visited artillery units on nearby U Island.
