S. Korean Researchers Advance Carbon Dioxide Capture Technology

South Korean researchers have developed what may be a powerful weapon in the fight against global warming.

The Korea Carbon Capture and Sequestration R&D Center(KCRC) said Monday that it has produced an effective instrument for trapping carbon dioxide and removing it from the air.

The instrument uses a so-called aqueous solvent system which induces a chemical reaction to selectively absorb carbon dioxide.

Excess carbon dioxide is the principal "greenhouse gas" blamed for climate change.
