The government on Friday launched a full-fledged comprehensive bank account management service, which allows people to manage all of their bank accounts over the Internet.
Under the “Account Info” service provided by the Financial Services Commission(FSC), people can check and see all of their different bank accounts all in one go, without having to access each bank's website.
With just a few clicks, users can also transfer up to 300-thousand won from one account to another and even close accounts that have remained inactive for the past year.
The FSC first introduced the service in July of last year, but at the time people were only able to check the accounts or close them. Afterward, the watchdog has gradually expanded the functionality of the service.
According to the FSC, the number of bank accounts created under individuals’ names in South Korea stood at 230 million as of the end of last year, with the money kept in the accounts amounting to 609 trillion won, or 522 billion U.S. dollars, in total.
