South Korea is facing more antidumping investigations and restrictions overseas, with protectionist trade barriers going higher across the world.
According to the Korea International Trade Association on Wednesday, the number of antidumping regulations and probes against South Korean products has increased 24-point-five percent from 106 late last year to 132 this year.
By nation, India has placed the largest number of 33 import restrictions on South Korean exports. It lodged nine new antidumping suits against South Korea this year alone. The U.S. came in second, followed by China, Thailand and Brazil.
Steel and metal products account for nearly half of the South Korean exports slapped with antidumping penalties. The U.S. handed down the largest number of 18 import regulations on South Korean steel and metal products, while India imposed 18 restrictions on South Korean chemical exports.
