Samsung, SK, LG to Leave S. Korea's Largest Business Lobby Group

South Korea's biggest conglomerate appears set to abandon South Korea's biggest business lobbying group.

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong told lawmakers Tuesday Samsung will stop paying its dues to the Federation of Korean Industries(FKI) and will leave the group.

Samsung is known to be the biggest contributor to the FKI’s annual budget.

During questioning over the presidential scandal involving Choi Soon-sil, ruling Saenuri Party lawmaker Ha Tae-kyung demanded Vice Chairman Lee play a role in disbanding the lobby group.

The FKI has been under mounting criticism among opposition parties and the general public, following the Choi Soon-sil scandal for its alleged shady collusion with the government.

SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and LG Group Chairman Koo Bon-moo also said they would quit the group.
