EU Slaps Provisional Antidumpting Duties on S. Korean Lightweight Thermal Paper

The European Commission(EC) has slapped provisional antidumping duties on imports of South Korean lightweight thermal paper.

According to the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency’s branch office in Brussels, the EC announced the move last Thursday and the 12-point-one percent provisional duty will apply for a period of six months.

In its investigation into a complaint lodged by the European Thermal Paper Association(ETPA), the EC found that the continuous rise in South Korean imports had a clear negative impact on the EU industry, "resulting in market price depression and causing market share losses for EU producers."

Lightweight thermal paper is a special fine paper that is coated with a chemical that changes color when exposed to heat. It is used in point-of-sale applications, such as cash register receipts.
