An artificial intelligence(AI) system assembled with South Korean technologies has won a quiz show over its human rivals.

The AI named Exobrain won the latest edition of the Educational Broadcasting System(EBS)’s long-running quiz show program, Janghak Quiz.

During the quiz show held on Friday at the Daejeon-based Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI), Exobrain acquired 510 points, 160 points more than the runner-up. The AI competed with two former quiz champions as well as a Seoul National University student and a Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) student.

According to the AI's operator, Exobrain dominated in most parts of the competition but answered some questions wrong in areas where it was not trained.

ETRI researcher Park Sang-kyu, who is in charge of the Exobrain project, said his team plans to commercialize related technologies in two years.
