Apple overtook Samsung Electronics to take the highest market share in the North American market during the third quarter.
According to Strategy Analytics on Friday, Apple seized a 33-point-one percent market share in North America in the July to September period in terms of smartphone shipments.
Samsung, which took the number one position in the April to June period at 32-point-seven percent, tumbled by eight-point-three percentage points to 24-point-four percent.
The fall of Samsung’s market share is partly attributed to a massive recall and resulting production halt of the Galaxy Note 7.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics maintained the position of the third largest smartphone vendor in North America with a market share of 15-point-seven percent, down by zero-point-six percentage points from the previous quarter.
The U.S.' ZTE came in fourth at eight-point-seven percent, followed by China's TCL-Alcatel at seven-point-seven percent.
China’s Huawei, the third biggest smartphone vendor worldwide, settled for the tenth highest market share in North America at zero-point-five percent.
