The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) rose on Monday as institutions turned to net buyers, although the push wasn't enough to send it above the two-thousand threshold.

The KOSPI gained 15-point-56 points, or zero-point-79 percent, to close at one-thousand-997-point-58.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ advanced eleven-point-35 points, or one-point-86 percent, to 622-point-17.
 
On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency against the U.S. dollar was nearly unchanged from Friday, strengthening zero-point-three won to one-thousand-143-point-one won.
