Mount Seorak Sees First Snow of the Season

The first snow of this year's fall season fell on Mount Seorak on Friday.

According to the Mount Seorak National Park Office, it began to snow on the summit of Daecheong Peak about 17-hundred meters high and other peaks at around 6 a.m.

The season’s first snow comes 18 days later than last year. The snow fell for around 30 minutes, but the amount of snowfall was too insignificant to be measured.

The office said although the official temperature was above zero degrees Celsius, the wind chill made the air feel like it was below freezing.

It also warned hikers of sudden temperature drops, urging them to carry with them emergency food, warm clothes and protective gear.
