N. Korean Defector: Potential Attempts to Assassinate Kim Jong-un

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is reportedly being targeted by an elite team from South Korea and by some within the elite circles of the communist regime.

North Korean defector Kang Myung-do, a former member of the North’s small elite, made the claim citing high-ranking North Korean officials during a CNN interview aired on Saturday.

Kang, the son-in-law of a former prime minister, said that it is possible someone will try to kill Kim to save his own life, although such attempts will likely be made impulsively, rather than in a systematic and organized fashion.

Amid reports that Kim has had 64 “traitors” publicly executed, the South Korean spy agency said that even key officials at the center of the elite circles of the North are said to be unwillingly loyal to Kim.
