Fishery Officials of S. Korea, Japan Gather in Jeju

South Korea and Japan say they'll share more information to maintain stocks of seafood in their respective fishing areas.

About 80 local officials from both countries met Wednesday on Korea's Jeju island in the 24th annual fisheries meeting the two have held.

They say they will cooperate to nurture and preserve marine resources, and collaborate on technologies to help clams, oysters and mussels reproduce.

In a ceremonial gesture, the delegates boarded a vessel released three thousand baby pufferfish into the waters off of Jeju City.

The two sides alternate hosting the conference, so it will be in Japan next year.
