The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Tuesday jumped 12-point-82 points, or zero-point-63 percent, to close at two-thousand-40-point-43 ahead of a European Central Bank policy meeting scheduled for later in the week.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ closed nearly flat, gaining zero-point-46 point, or zero-point-07 percent, to 660-point-29.
 
On the foreign exchange market, the value of the local currency strengthened eight-point-five won against the U.S. dollar to one-thousand-129-point-four won.
