Samsung Electronics has started mass producing System-on-Chip(SoC) products with ten-nanometer fin field effect transistor(FinFET) technology.

Following the successful mass production of the semiconductor industry’s first 14-nanometer FinFET mobile application processor(AP) in January last year, Samsung also commenced mass production of the industry’s first SoC products with the ten-nanometer FinFET technology.

The new processor boasts 27 percent higher performance and 40 percent lower power consumption compared to 14-nanometer processors.

Following the introduction of the first-generation ten-nanometer process(10LPE), Samsung plans to introduce its second generation process(10LPP) with higher performance for mass production in the second half of next year.
