US: N. Korea's Musudan Missile Launch Fails

United States military authorities have assessed that North Korea’s latest launch of an intermediate-range ballistic missile ended in failure.

The U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) said that its systems detected what it assesses was a failed North Korean missile launch at 12:33 p.m. Saturday near Kusong City in North Pyongan Province.

In its statement, STRATCOM said that the missile is presumed to be a Musadan intermediate-range ballistic missile and it did not pose a threat to North America.

The U.S. Defense Department also confirmed the failed launch, strongly condemning it and the North's other recent missiles tests.

STRATCOM said they remain vigilant in the face of North Korean provocations and are fully committed to working closely with the U.S. allies of South Korea and Japan to maintain security.
