South Korea ranks dead last among member nations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD) in the number of doctors.
According to data from the Ministry of Health and Welfare disclosed by main opposition Minjoo Party of Korea lawmaker Nam In-soon on Friday, South Korea had two-point-two doctors per every one-thousand people as of 2014.
It's the lowest among the OECD's 28 members. Mexico ties with South Korea at the bottom.
With the OECD average at three-point-three, Austria topped the list at five-point-one. Norway followed at four-point-four while Germany, Sweden and Switzerland all had four-point-one doctors per population of one-thousand. The U.S. was two-point-six and Japan two-point-four.
The data comes from OECD Health Statistics 2016. South Korean numbers included doctors of oriental medicine.
