Report: Samsung Electronics began on Thursday providing refunds and exchanges for customers in South Korea who purchased Galaxy Note 7 smartphones.
Note 7 owners can now opt to get a full refund for the product or exchange it for a different model if they take it to the store that they bought it from.
The Note 7s can be exchanged for Samsung's Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5 or LG Electronics’ G5 and V20 or Apple’s iPhone 7.
Customers also don’t have to return their Gear Fit2, a fitness tracker, that came with the phablet for no extra charge.
The services will be provided until the end of the year.
In total, Samsung will recall two-point-five million of the model from ten markets worldwide, including one million in the U.S.
In the U.S., every major carrier will give Note 7 owners any other phone in exchange for the Note 7 or a full refund, in addition to a 25-dollar gift card or store credit.
In Australia, customers can also get a refund or exchange their Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, plus a refund of the price difference.
In countries including Britain, plans have yet to be finalized.
Refund programs could differ by region but Samsung customers around the globe will be compensated for the disappointing purchase by generally taking it back to where they got it.
