Owners of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 7 smartphones can exchange the device with other products or receive a cash refund from Thursday.

Domestic mobile carriers said on Wednesday that Note 7 owners will be able to receive a cash refund or replace the device with products from Samsung or other companies from the store they purchased the smartphone.

They have until the end of the year to make the exchange and do not have to return any free gifts they received when purchasing the Note 7.

However, the process is likely to take some time for those who receive a cash refund and then switch carriers without changing phone numbers.
