One of the world's biggest international robot shows has kicked off at the Kintex convention center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.

Under the theme 'Lead to the future', RobotWorld 2016 features 480 booths by 219 companies from 12 countries and will run until this Sunday.

Some of the event's major highlights include demonstrations of robots used for medical surgeries and robots that can be harnessed to boost manufacturing through modern tools such as 3D printers and other various software.

The high-tech gala comprises not only an exhibition but also a contest and a conference. It is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Association of Robot Industry.
