S. Korea, US to Cooperate on UN Resolution over N. Korea's Human Rights

South Korea and the United States are once again cooperating to support a UN resolution condemning North Korea’s human rights practices.

Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and U.S. Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power met Monday and agreed to push for more attention to the North Korean human rights problem.

Resolutions dealing with North Korean human rights abuses have been adopted in one form or another for eleven straight years.

Human rights advocates are pushing for a resolution by UN General Assembly to recommend the Security Council refer senior North Korean officials --- including, potentially, Kim Jung-un --- to the International Criminal Court.
