'N. Korean Missions in Russia Request Flood Support'

Radio Free Asia said Saturday that North Korea has asked Russia for flood assistance through its diplomatic missions in the country.

Citing reports by Russian media including the RIA Novosti news agency, the RFA quoted a statement made by the president of the Russian Red Cross Society's chapter in Khabarovsk city.

The Red Cross official said the North Korean consulate general in Khabarovsk has requested relief support for North Korean flood victims hit by a typhoon.

The report said that the local Red Cross chapter has began to collect supplies and raise funds for the North Korean victims.

The Red Cross in Khabarovsk is in need of blankets, medicine, food and construction materials and will continue to gather articles and raise funds until the end of October.
