U.S. tech giant Apple has gained new victory in its court battle on patent rights with South Korean rival Samsung Electronics.
Overturning an earlier decision, a U.S. appeals court on Friday reinstated a lower-court verdict delivered in 2014 which ordered Samsung to pay Apple nearly 120 million U.S. dollars for violating three iPhone patents.
In February, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington ruled that Samsung did not infringe on the patents and so did not need to pay the previously ordered compensation.
Apple appealed that decision and on Friday, a full panel of judges at the same court accepted Apple's appeal.
In a separate case, the court has sided with Samsung over its claim that Apple infringed on its patent related to digital photo processing, and has ordered Apple to pay over 158-thousand dollars to Samsung.
