The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) rallied 12-point-three points, or zero-point-six percent, to close at two-thousand-65-point-three on Thursday, helped by a surge in Samsung Electronics' shares.

The secondary KOSDAQ, on the other hand, fell one-point-11 points, or zero-point-16 percent, to 684-point-33.
 
On the foreign exchange market, the local currency appreciated one-point-five won against the U.S. dollar to one-thousand-112-point-two won.
