North Korea claims it has won a victory against the United States through nuclear development, repeating its calls for Washington to drop its hostile policies.

The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers’ Party of Korea, said on Monday that Washington must review its policies on the North and make a fresh start in order to save face as a powerful country.

The newspaper said the advice was directed at American politicians who will draw up national policies, apparently referring to U.S. presidential candidates. It also said that the North is in the final stages of sophisticating and advancing its nuclear capabilities.

The paper went on to blame the U.S.’ military threats and sanctions for Pyongyang's nuclear advancement, adding that no such action will work on North Korea.
