Samsung Vice Chairman Ranks 18th on Bloomberg’s 50 Most Influential People

Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jay-yong has ranked 18th on Bloomberg’s 2016 list of the world’s 50 most influential people in finance released on Friday.

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May topped this year’s list for her rise amid the financial, political and economic turmoil that followed Britain’s shocking departure from the EU.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and her Republican rival Donald Trump shared second place, while Chinese President Xi Jinping came in fourth.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos took fifth place, followed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and U.S. Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen.

People’s Bank of China Governor Zhou Xiaochuan ranked 14th and Alibaba Group Chief Executive Jack Ma came in 17th.

The list was compiled after dozens of Bloomberg reporters and editors were asked to nominate candidates. A panel of senior editors voted to narrow down the list from more than 100 names to 50.
